Volunteer Stories: The Heart Behind the Rescue
By Carson Cats Rescue Team · February 23, 2026 · 6 min read

Meet the volunteers whose kindness, time, and skills keep Carson Cats Rescue running — and how you can join them.
Everyday heroes
Every cat we rescue is touched by dozens of hands before finding a home — the trapper who spots a stray, the transport driver, the foster parent who bottle-feeds through the night, the photographer who captures adoption portraits, the event volunteer who helps a family meet their perfect match.
A weekend that changed everything
Our volunteer coordinator, Maria, joined Carson Cats after a single Saturday adoption event. 'I only came to help set up tables,' she remembers. 'By the end of the day I had signed up as a foster.' Four years and 62 fostered kittens later, Maria coordinates the volunteer team.
Fostering as a family
The Nguyen family fosters kitten litters together. Their two children weigh kittens daily, log growth on a whiteboard, and help write the online biographies that introduce each cat to potential adopters. 'It has taught our kids compassion, responsibility, and biology all at once,' says Linh Nguyen.
Skills that save lives
Not every volunteer role involves cats directly. Graphic designers create our adoption flyers, accountants keep our books tidy, drivers move cats to vet appointments, and writers help tell our stories. Whatever your skill, we can put it to work saving lives.
